Volunteer Openings

Classroom Volunteer

Start date: September

DLEC provides early childhood education for kids, giving support and teaching skills to new parents, and helping the families who are the most in need. Help us in our goal of preparing children for kindergarten and life by being a classroom helper at one of our Centers. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, reading/storytelling, administrative work, escorting children, games, cleaning, art, cross guard, and mealtime help.

Play & Learn Volunteer

Start date: Ongoing

As a Play & Learn Volunteer, you will assist with Kaleidoscope Play & Learn (KPL) groups for children ages 5 and under in community settings such as libraries and parks. This is a great opportunity to support early childhood education while gaining hands-on experience. Volunteers help facilitators prepare the space, welcome children and caregivers, and support engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that promote school readiness.

Development Volunteer

Start date: Ongoing

The development volunteer will work alongside the development coordinator, assisting him/her with work related to donors, in-kind donations, grants, and events. Tasks include, but are not limited to researching prospective donors, donor outreach, procurement for auction, data entry, and other duties as assigned.

Board Member Volunteer

Start date: Ongoing

As a board member of Denise Louie Education Center, you can apply your professional experience to improving the lives of low income, immigrant and refugee children and families. Our goal is to prepare children for success in school and in life, through pre-school, parent involvement, family support, healthy development, and parent leadership. Board members provide strategic direction to the organization using information from our community assessment, program data and self-assessment. They are responsible for ensuring quality service delivery and the fulfillment of the agency mission.
