Denise Louie Education Center Announces 2025 Alumni Scholarship Recipients

At Denise Louie Education Center, we build the educational foundation for our students to succeed in the future. We established a scholarship opportunity for DLEC alumni interested in or are pursuing higher education. DLEC is honored to present the 2025 recipients of this scholarship, Alvin Tang and Angel Xie!

Alvin Tang began his journey at DLEC’s Beacon Hill site, where he built lasting friendships and learned to navigate new environments. These formative experiences sparked his passion for education and inspired him to pursue the Education, Communities, and Organizations major at the University of Washington. Alvin is committed to bridging gaps in the classroom and ensuring all students can thrive. We’re excited to welcome him back as an intern at Denise Louie next year.

Angel Xie began her journey at DLEC’s Beacon Hill site in 2008. Growing up without access to dental care, she often felt self-conscious about her smile, an experience that sparked her passion for oral health. In high school, she pursued dental assisting and volunteered in her community, combining science with service. Now a student at the University of Washington, Angel is working toward becoming a dentist who not only treats patients but also supports their emotional well-being. Her dream is to create a practice where no one feels ashamed of their smile.

DLEC is grateful to former students such as Angel and Alvin for their commitment and aspirations of serving and improving the community.
